Jambour.
Renovation medical center

The village of Jambour is one of the oldest villages in the Gambia and has a about 3000 inhabitants. The village is surrounded by a number of smaller villages.
During the rainy season traffic on the poor roads to and from the village is severely disrupted. Therefore, many pregnant women and children die of malaria, simply because the village is almost cut off from the outside world. The village has a medical center for first aid, but this is in a very bad state of repair. Thanks to Challenge Antwerp Banjul the center now has an ambulance.

The aim is to renovate the medical center together with the association for sustainable communal development (ASCOD), so that once again immediate medical treatment can be given within the village. The estimate for this renovation is 15,000 Euros.
