Kololi. Housing facilities for the handicapped

The upkeep and running of a house for mentally handicapped children.

As it is important for these children not to lose contact with their parents a choice has been made for accommodation which allows them to go home during the weekends.
The children attend The Methodist Special School and together with this school the Foundation Second Home started the home for mentally handicapped children in December 2008.
In this we are helped by HAN (Hogeschool Arnhem Nijmegen). Three of their students will start and get the Lodge ready for the first group of children. Moreover the students will instruct the Gambian staff about their tasks. The Challenge donation will facilitate a multi-functional room, and water supply will be ensured by way of a good quality pump.
For the continuation of this project the Gambian government has been contacted, for the aim is that this project will be an all Gambian one. To carry on this project funds are needed for the children’s needs (clothing, food, water, medical care), school transport and staff expenses.
All proceeds will go straight to the Foundation Second Home in the Gambia.
