Njawara Basic Cycle School
Njawara Basic Cycle School, founded in 2004, is attended by 570 pupils from the
neighboring villages, of whom 300 girls,. The school has a two-shift scheme. The school buildings are in a deplorable state. Moreover, there is no staff room.
The school management would like to equip a room with 20 computers for the pupils. Of course this also implies a solar panel system for power supply. Laptops would be ideal here because of their low energy consumption.

There is no school fence any more, so that the school yard is overrun by all kinds of animals, such as goats and cows. At the same time, because there is fence , it is impossible to keep pupils on the premises. A new fence has been estimated at 318,000 Dalasi/ 9000 Euro.
There is no volleyball, basket, or any other sports equipment for the pupils.
The school would also like financial support for the purchase of school material, such as books, copy books , etc. By now the once dilapidated school library has been as almost renovated.
The participants of the October Challenge brought a great number of English books for the start of the library. It was a real boost for the school.
What team would like to support this school in this desolate area of Gambia? Njawara is the first Challenge stop in Gambia.
