Farato Bojang, Arbeidsbesparende apparaten

RECHTVAARDIGING: De vrouwen van Farato Bojang Kunda waren bezorgd over de toegang tot arbeidsbesparende apparaten, zoals machines voor het malen/verwerken van granen. Ze hebben 10 km gereisd om toegang te krijgen tot de maal-/verwerkingsdienst in een nabijgelegen gemeenschap van Brikama. In sommige gevallen moeten vrouwen en meisjes hun toevlucht nemen tot traditionele verwerkingsmethoden van stampen met motter en stamper, wat arbeidsintensief en ook traag is. Dit heeft de vrouwen in het gebied zwaarder belast en heeft tot op zekere hoogte invloed gehad op hun deelname aan andere productieve activiteiten in de gemeenschap, zoals het bedrijfsleven, enz. Bovendien heeft het ook bijgedragen aan slechte prestaties van meisjes op school.

BESCHRIJVING: De voorgestelde investering heeft tot doel de arbeidsintensiviteit van vrouwen en meisjes te verminderen door een Coos Miling-machinemodel - FFC 45, Dehusk-machine en originele elektrische motor (Dynamo) model Y2-160M2 te leveren om aan de NAWEC DRIEFASE ELEKTRISCHE MTERS te worden bevestigd door een ventilatorriem om de werking van de machines te vergemakkelijken. De frees/bewerkingsmachines worden in een machinehuis geplaatst. Hieronder vindt u een gedetailleerde beschrijving van het project.
De belangrijkste activiteiten van de voorgestelde investering zijn: mobilisatie van lokale middelen, identificatie van potentiële leveranciers, aanschaf van de machines en andere materialen, bouw van het huis, installatie van de machine, identificatie en training van operators van de machines Monitoring van projectactiviteiten.

JUSTFICATION: Access to labor saving deveie such as Cereal milling/processing machines to the women of Farato Bojang Kunda  have been a concern. They have travelled  10 Km to access the milling/processing service at a near by community of Brikama. In some instances, women and girls have to resort to using traditional processing methods of pounding using motter and pistil which is labor intensive and slow too. This has put more burden on women in the area to certain extend it has affected their participation in other productive activities in the community, such as business etc. In addition,  it has also contribututed to low performance of girls in school.

DESCRIPTION: The proposed investment seeks reduce labor intnity on women and girls, by providing a Coos Miling machine Model – FFC 45, Dehusk Machine  and original Electric Motor (Dynamo) Model Y2-160M2 to be attached to the NAWEC THREE PHASE ELECTRIC MTERS by a fan belt to facilite the operation of the machines. The milling/processing machines will be installed in a machine house.  Below is a detail description of the project. 

The main activities of the proposed investment  will entails, Local resources mobilization, Identification of potential supplier, Procurement of the machines and other materials, Construction of the house, Installation of the machine, Identification and training of operators of the machines Monitoring of project activities. 

Major goal

Provide reliable and efficient food processing services to households in the community of Farato Bojang Kuna, by providing multipurpose milling/processing facilities by the end of the three months. 

Specific objectives

Reduce domestic work load on women and school going girls within the community.  

Create source of local employment opportunity for women and youths in the community. 

Increase revenue of the foundation by 25% after one year of project completion.
