Kartung, Huishoudschool Sandela

Project Description

In many regions in the Gambia, girls face significant barriers to education, particularly in lower-income households where financial constraints often dictate educational opportunities. In our community (Kartong) and its surroundings, a substantial number of girls drop out of school after completing grade 9 or grade 12 due to financial difficulties.

This proposal outlines a comprehensive vocational training program aimed at equipping underprivileged girls with practical skills in catering, pastry, housekeeping, and other relevant areas. By focusing on hands-on, marketable skills, we aim to foster self-sufficiency and empower these young women to build a better future for themselves and their communities

The dropout rate among young girls due to financial constraints has reached alarming levels, leaving many without the necessary skills to secure stable employment. These girls often find themselves trapped in cycles of poverty, with limited opportunities for personal and professional growth

Investing in vocational training for underprivileged girls is not only a moral imperative but also a strategic approach to fostering economic development and social equity. By providing these young women with practical skills, we can enhance their employability and empower them to become self-sufficient. Furthermore, equipping girls with vocational skills can lead to positive ripple effects within their families and communities, promoting gender equality and economic stability.
