Kerawan, Bouw Health Center
De gezondheidszorg is sinds 2018 gestart nadat we ons realiseerden met welke uitdagingen onze vrouwen en kinderen vooral worden geconfronteerd als het gaat om toegang tot basisbehoeften in de gezondheidszorg. Het gebied heeft een grote bevolking en dat zijn Kombo Kerawan, Babilon Village en Daranka. De locatie is zeer strategisch, direct aan de snelweg Lamin/Mandinary, naast de moskee. De faciliteit omvat een volksgezondheidskantoor, postnatale, antanatale, apotheek, spreekkamer 1 en 2, wachtzaal en kaartverkoop, 2 toiletten, een afdeling voor kinderen, vrouwen en mannen.
In 2019 hebben wij (Gert, Pia en Lamin) de eerste steen gelegd voor de bouw van een health center in het plaatsje Kombo Kerawan.
Dit plaatsje ligt op ca. 1 uur rijden van de kust.
We zagen hier de uitdaging om iets voor de bevolking te doen, toen we hoorden dat de dichtstbijzijnde healtpost op minimaal 7 km is.
Voor ons is dit niet ver, maar de bevolking is meestal aangewezen op de benenwagen, kar met ezel, of voor sommigen een taxi.
De plaatsjes die gebruik gaan maken van het healthcenter zijn Kombo Kerawan, Babilon Village en Daranka.
Bij elkaar opgeteld wonen hier ca. 4000 mensen, waarvoor de zorg heel belangrijk is.
De locatie is zeer strategisch gelegen, direct aan de weg van Lamin naar Mandinary, naast de moskee.

The health has been initiated since 2018 after realising the challenges our women and children especially face when it comes to access to basic health care needs. The area has big population and that is Kombo Kerawan, Babilon Village and Daranka. The location is very strategic right on the highway Lamin/Mandinary highway next to the mosque. The facility includes public health office, post natal, antanatal, pharmacy, consultation room 1 and 2, waiting hall and ticketing, 2 toilets, ward for children, women, men respectivaly.

Expected outputs |
The health center project is located at a very strategic location. The land has been reserved for future health center right on the Lamin-Mandinari Highway. When completed it will reduce the load on Banjulinding health Centre and Serekunda Hospital.

Project Sustainability |
As a foundation we will continue to partner with the health center to try to raise funds and from our own contribution in order to continue providing medication and medical items.
